Winter 2015 Donors Club Meeting

[ Toronto Public Library Auditorium 888 Lawrence Ave. East, Toronto, M3C 1P6 ] -1:30 pm to 3:30 pm Saturday, December 19th, 2015

WPP will hold their Winter 2015 Donors Club Meeting at 888 Lawrence Ave. East on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 1:30 pm.
Goals of this meeting are:

  • Educate people on Parkinson's
  • Present them with progress of WPP;
  • Opportunities at hand;
  • Immediate global needs and plans; and
  • Impact we can provide to people suffering from Parkinson's.

Light Refreshments will be served. This meeting is FREE and open to the public; however, seating is limited. Please RSVP asap at info@pdprogram.org.

World Parkinson's Program had a very successful seminar on April 11, in Toronto.

[ CANADA ] - APRIL 11, Saturday

World Parkinson's Program conducted a very successful Parkinson's seminar in Toronto, Canada on April 11, 2015. There were several lectures by Neurologist, Physiotherapist, Movie actor Shelly Antony, as well as chair of World Parkinson's Program Mr.Armand Gilks, and Mr. Aziz Abdi, Executive Director of World Parkinson's Program. A global educational Campaign was started. A fund raising campaign to help Parkinson's patients suffering from poverty who can't buy walkers, canes, wheelchairs and their medication was started. A large number of participants including patients,caregivers, healthcare workers, seniors, and community members attended the seminar. Media coverage including Asian Television Network and other medias was provided.

[ INDIA ] - APRIL 11, Saturday

Arunai Thelirchi Maiyam "Vilvam" 4,Yadhaval street,Virugambakkam,Chennai-600092, Tamil Nadu. India.
A successful seminar was organized including a walkathon in the morning in which about220 people participated followed by a patient- caregiver interaction programin which a psychiatrist, neurologist, clinical nutrition specialist and aphysiotherapist clarified patients' doubts and gave them information aboutthe disease. The press was also present during this session.In the evening another session with focus on patient-caregiverinteraction with the neurologist, physiotherapist, a person accomplishinggreat things despite PD and Dr. Porrselvi Palanisamy was held.Suupport initiative L-DOPA (Living with Dignity fOrPeople with pArkinson's) on that day was also launched. This initiative willalso offer competent medical advice, cognitive and emotional support,nutrition counselling, physiotherapy and speech therapy as well as work to raise awareness about the disease.
